Wait… Who is Leanne Williams?

I’m glad you asked! My partner Whitney and I went to a friend’s wedding as guests and brought a camera along just for fun. We had a blast, but we weren’t trying to be serious photographers. Well, it turns out that we outperformed the pro that our friend had hired. This both pleased and infuriated our friend. She was devastated from not getting her money’s worth out of the pro she hired, but thrilled that we had been there to give her wonderful photos. She told us how much she had paid and we were both blown away. I couldn’t believe that a paid professional, on someone’s most important day of their life, could drop the ball so badly. This was also a sign. Here is something that I had a ton of fun doing and can make a living out of it.

Soon after this, Whitney and I started looking for more photography work and tried a lot of different names. Most of them sounded too formal or too cold. We wanted to have a name that felt close to us, but Tyler & Whitney’s Photography didn’t sound professional enough. Then we decided to use our middle names. William Leanne didn’t seem right, but Leanne Williams sounds wonderful!

In 2007, I graduated college with 2 degrees. One in Accounting and one in Business Management. In 2008, the economy crashed and I found it beyond difficult to find any kind of steady work. I ended up doing photography as a hobby after picking it up at my friend’s wedding. As the years passed I kept it up, learning what I could and doing any job that needed a camera.

In 2016 I was working my last corporate accounting job. Driving hours on end going to and from work. I knew I was wasting my life. As I sat at my work computer, completely ignoring my job and looking up classes on photography, it dawned on me that photography is what I really want to be doing for the rest of my life. I want to be there for my couples on the greatest day of their lives and make it even better. I want to give them countless memories to look back on with smiles and tears. This is the greatest job in the world and I’m so lucky I found it, even if it was by accident.

Outside of Photography I do what I can for a local dog rescue and have been fostering dogs for about 10 years. Staying active despite the lockdowns and can’t wait to start going back to concerts.
